There are many different types of video outputs available on various video cards. Not all of them are covered here. This list merely discussed the most common option for connecting to a television set. Some video cards will actually have an output connection labeled as TV-out. This is normally an S-Video port.
S-Video: This is a round connection with 4 or 7 pinholes and a larger rectangular hole at the bottom. It is a standard for video signals, combining video and audio signals into one small connection. Most video recent cards will have an S-Video output.
Composite Video: This is a small, single hole with a (normally) yellow rim. It is the same as traditional TV inputs that are used to connect a VCR or game system to your television.
VGA: This is the port that the monitor traditionally connects to. It is in the shape of a trapezoid with 15 pins. It is not the ideal way to connect to your TV because it requires a converter. Also, unless your video card has two slots (supporting dual monitors) it will be difficult to use both a monitor and your television with the computer video signal at the same time.
